Expired Medicine
Expired medicines are not recommended to be consumed. What about medicines that their expired limits are less than a week, even a day?These medicines can be consumed. But, if you are in doubt, please look at the physical condition of the medicine. If there are some changes in the color, shape, smell, or even taste, then the drug should not be consumed.
The physical conditions alterations should be use as a standard. If you are still in doubt, you can ask the pharmacist to ensure the physical condition of the medicines still okay especially if the medicine has been kept in long period time. The pharmacist will inspect the condition of the medicine. Although the medicine has not yet expired, when his physical condition is broken, the pharmacist should not give it to the consumer. The medicine should remain in the packaging.
Medicines must also be stored according to the instructions listed on the label. There are three medicine storage temperatures, i.e., room, cool, and cold temperature. Room temperature is the temperature at non AC room (not exceeding 30 degrees Celsius).
Also make sure that the medicines are not exposed to direct sunlight. Exposure to sunlight will change the medicine forming chemical bonds. Cool temperature is the temperature of air-conditioned room. Cold temperature is the refrigerators temperature. Some vitamins and antibiotics are recommended to be stored in cold temperature.
